BACKPACKS & SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO CHILDREN

The back-to-school season is often overwhelming because children are at a disadvantage in our schools because they don't have the proper supplies. Always having to ask for supplies such as backpacks, pencils, paper, notebooks, pens, correction tape, erasers, pad paper, and planners can reinforce in a child's mind that they don't have what everyone else must have to be a successful student. Every August, Each One Reach One has their annual giveaway where every child in attendance leaves with a brand-new backpack filled with school supplies. To date, we have given away 19,156 backpacks full of school supplies to children. Starting in Seattle, Washington (King County) in 1997 and in September 2016, the outreach expanded on the east coast to Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Broward County).

But we can't do it alone. We need your help to continue making a difference in the lives of these children. Imagine the joy and relief on a child's face when they receive their very own backpack filled with everything they need to succeed in school. Your support can make this possible. Whether it' through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word, every action counts. Together, we can ensure that no child feels left behind or unprepared for their education. BACKPACKS FOR FOSTER CHILDREN

According to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS), the need for support among foster children is indeed significant. In the United States, there are approximately 369,000 children in the foster care system. This data is based on their most recent report for the fiscal year 2022. AFCARS is managed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, specifically the Administration for Children and Families. Many of these children face challenges such as instability, emotional trauma, and a lack of basic resources. Providing essentials through initiatives like Give Back Packs can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and loved. For foster children, life can often feel uncertain and unfamiliar. That’s why Give Back Packs matter—they’re more than just backpacks; they’re a symbol of care, comfort, and hope. With your support, we can provide foster children with essentials that bring a sense of security and belonging.

Your generosity can help fill these packs with meaningful items such as age appropriate clothing, toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant), books, journals, crayons, toys, a cozy blanket, and even a handwritten note to let them know someone cares. Each pack represents the kindness of a community that believes in them.

Together, let’s ensure foster children feel supported and valued, one backpack at a time.

hygiene-1.png

HYGIENE FOR THE HOMELESS

Hygiene packs are essential for the homeless and hungry because they address basic needs that are often difficult for these individuals to meet on their own. Starting in July 1991 in Everett, Washington (Snohomish County) on the corner of Colby and Hewitt Ave and in 1997 extended to Pioneer Square in Downtown Seattle (King County) and surrounding areas. in 2016 we expanded across the United States to Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Broward County) To date we have given away 205,200 Hygiene Packs for the homeless.

Here's why they matter:

   1. Health and Disease Prevention: Good hygiene reduces the risk of infections

and illnesses. For individuals facing homelessness or hunger, access to items

like soap, toothpaste, and sanitizer can help prevent the spread of diseases.

   2. Dignity and Self-Esteem: Maintaining personal hygiene can boost self-esteem

and provide a sense of dignity. This can be especially important for individuals

seeking employment or trying to rebuild their lives.

   3. Access to Basics: Many homeless and hungry individuals lack resources to

purchase hygiene products. These packs ensure they have access to

necessities that contribute to their overall well-being.

   4. Support During Crisis: Hygiene packs are vital in emergency situations, such as

natural disasters, where individuals may lose access to clean water, shelter, or

       supplies.

blanckets-1.png

BLANKETS FOR THE HOMELESS

Blankets are a critical lifeline for individuals experiencing homelessness. They serve multiple essential purposes:

   1. Warmth and Protection: Exposure to cold temperatures, especially at night or

during the winter, can be life-threatening. Blankets provide vital insulation,

      reducing the risk of hypothermia.

   2. Comfort: For those without a stable home, blankets can offer a small sense of

security and peace, making challenging conditions a bit more bearable.

   3. Health: Keeping the body warm and shielded from the elements can prevent

illnesses caused by damp or cold environments.

   4. Versatility: Blankets are incredibly useful, serving as makeshift shelter, padding,

or even privacy in public spaces.

It's remarkable how something as simple as a blanket can meet such fundamental needs and provide a sense of dignity to those facing difficult circumstances. Do you have a particular interest in supporting homeless individuals? Let me know if you'd like help brainstorming ways to make a difference.
